Parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala will receive very heavy rains since Friday morning due to Cyclonic Storm Burwi, which is formed from the southwest region of the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department issued an alert on Wednesday, stating that Cyclone Burwee is moving in the west-northwest direction and is expected to become more severe in the next 12 hours. The storm will pass between Kanyakumari and Pamban in South Tamil Nadu.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for very heavy rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. According to the Meteorological Department, from the morning of December 4, Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala will blow at a speed of 90 km per hour. Tight security arrangements have been made before the storm strikes. Two NDRF teams have been deployed at Kanyakumari and Alfuja.
NDRF Director General Satya Pradhan tweeted that NDRF personnel have reached all possible dangerous places to save the people of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to go to sea till 5 December.
