Sewers in Ludhiana to be cleaned under cleanliness initiative

The MC Commissioner conducted a meeting regarding ‘Safai Mitra Suraksha Challenge’ here on Wednesday.

The Safai Mitra Suraksha Challenge has been launched by the government on November 19 this year which would be run till August 15, 2021. As the city’s population is above 10 lakh, it will also participate in the challenge.

The Commissioner said they would focus on cleaning of sewerage lines with machines under the initiative. The use of safety equipment while working on sewer cleaning would be ensured and training would be provided to employees of the Municipal Corporation by specialists in this regard.

He said feedback would also be sought from citizens in the challenge. In this regard, the Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana, will launch a 24x7 helpline number for the residents.

The meeting was attended by MC’s superintending engineers and executive engineers of operations and maintenance branch. The officials have been instructed to do the needful so that the city can perform well and win prize in the challenge.
