Jamnagar man cheated of Rs 6 lakh by 10 from Ahmedabad

RAJKOT: Ten from Ahmedabad were booked on Tuesday night for allegedly duping an elderly person of Rs 5.97 lakh in Jamnagar by luring him with prizes to be won in a lucky draw.
Police said the victim, Kirit Mandaliya (64), was duped with the enticement of having won three luxurious cars of premium brands in the lucky draw of his insurance policy.
According to the police, the accused, Jaimin Dyemaker alias R K Patel, Charmy Dyemaker, Ashok Sharma, Nancy Parekh, Rajesh Parekh, Ajay Sharma, Akhilesh Kumar, Rinku Rathod, Harshit Surani and Jainandan Rao, had allegedly committed the fraud between 2014 and 2018.
“The accused told Mandaliya that he had to pay for the registration charges and insurance charges for the cars that he had won. The accused collected Rs 4.30 lakh for the registration of the cars and Rs 1.74 lakh for the insurance of the vehicles from Mandaliya,” said an official from Jamnagar A division police station.
“When Mandaliya did not get the cars, he called up the accused who started passing the buck to each other. Eventually, after Mandaliya realized that he had been duped, he approached the police with the complaint on Tuesday,” added the official.
All the accused in the case are based in Ahmedabad. The Jamnagar A division police station officials said they would dispatch a team of officials to Ahmedabad in order to track down and nab the accused.
