The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has added enterprise-level security to its OpenRoaming service with the help of new partner and infrastructure security expert Kyrio, owned by CableLabs. The OpenRoaming standard was relaunched in May, with the aim of ensuring seamless connectivity for users going between Wi-Fi networks.
As part of the new partnership, Kyrio will also join Google and Cisco as an Issuing Intermediate Certificate Authority (ICA), providing agent and registration authority services to WBA members, including networks, operators, hubs and identity providers. Kyrio will also help manageme the WBA Unique Organization Identifiers used for identifying partners on the OpenRoaming system. The information is centralised on a WBA global database for enhanced security.
