In the new National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the Ministry of Education has issued a statement regarding the reservation rules for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBC, and Divyang categories. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' has responded to the letter which CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury recently sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Through his letter to the Prime Minister, Sitaram Yechury had questioned that reservation policies have not been mentioned in the new education policy or admission in teaching and non-teaching recruitment. Does the government want to abolish reservation through the new education policy 2020?
Now Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' has responded to Sitaram Yechury's questions in a letter. The Education Minister has written in his reply that after the approval of the new Education Policy 2020, many examinations like JEE, NEET, UGC NET, IGNOU have been conducted. Recruitment procedures also took place in many educational institutions. However, we have not received any complaint of breach of reservation rules from anywhere. In such a situation, after four to five months of the announcement of the NEP, it is useless to raise such a question on the basis of facts.
The Education Minister further wrote that I would like to mention again that whatever successful policies and programs are being run to connect the Scheduled Castes / Tribes, OBCs, Divyang Classes and other socio-economically backward classes with education, as before Will continue I would like to clarify that the Ministry of Education will take appropriate action in every way on receiving any complaint in this regard. Ramesh Pokhriyal has written that contrary to claims of the abolition of reservation, special emphasis has been laid on linking backward classes with education in the new National Education Policy. Under the new education policy, a cluster named Socio-Economic Degraded Groups (SEDG) has been created. Under which new campaigns and schemes will be implemented to connect the backward classes with education.
