Road accidents claimed 159 lives during traffic month

Prayagraj: Even as traffic police observed Traffic Month in November, as many as 159 people died in road accidents in Prayagraj range comprising Prayagraj (53), Pratapgarh (49), Fatehpur (34) and Kaushambi (23) in the month.
Data shared by police on Wednesday revealed that 275 road accidents were reported in the range, including 127 in Prayagraj, 63 in Pratapgarh, 49 in Fatehpur and 36 in Kaushambi in November, and 159 people were killed while the same number of people were injured.

Month left police authorities alarmed and they are planning to take effective measures to curb road mishaps.
Two recent major road accidents which claimed 22 lives were caused by rash and negligent driving.
Statistics further revealed that 466 people were killed this year between January 1 and November 30 in road accidents in Prayagraj, 254 in Pratapgarh, 318 in Fatehpur and 173 in Kaushambi.
IG Prayagraj range K P Singh has instructed traffic police officials to chalk out a strategy to check road mishaps and deploy adequate traffic policemen.
As winters are approaching, police officials have been instructed to take corrective measures on both national and state highways and increase the use of reflectors.
Data shows 127 road accidents occurred in Prayagraj district in January, 116 in February, 104 in March, 26 in April, 81 in May, 96 in June, 74 in July, 76 in August, 91 in September, 117in October and 127 in November.
In Prayagraj district, 52 people died in January while 47, 47, 7, 41, 45, 37, 39, 52, 46 and 53 people died in accidents in February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November respectively.
Moreover, as many as 663 people sustained injuries in road mishaps, including January (85), February (82), March (64), April (21), May (47), June (65), July (50), August (45), September (46), October (76) and November (82).
In Pratapgarh, road accidents claimed 16, 33, 26, 11, 13, 24, 16, 27, 25, 14 and 49 lives in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November respectively.
Similarly, in Fatehpur district, 17, 37, 40, nine, 19, 39, 18, 34, 33, 38 and 34 people died in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November respectively.
In Kaushambi district, 22, 19, eight, one, 10, 29, 19, 12, 11, 19 and 23 lives were lost in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November respectively.
