The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) in the UK has launched a new Digital Inclusion Taskforce to tackle the digital divide across Greater Manchester.
The Taskforce brings together senior leaders, community groups, local government and industry to drive Greater Manchester's ambition to become a 100% digitally-enabled city region. The launch of the taskforce comes as research from the Good Things Foundation and Liverpool University show that up to 1.2 million across Greater Manchester could be digital excluded. More than 700,000 are only using the internet in a limited/narrow way, and a further 450,000 people across the region are classed as non-users. The Taskforce will work to address the barriers to digital inclusion and fix the region's digital divide.
