The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed a complete ban on the sale and use of all types of firecrackers. The tribunal has said that during the Kovid-19 epidemic, the NCR and all such cities and towns of the country where air quality is in the category of 'poor' and even higher can be banned.

A bench headed by NGT Chairman Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel has directed to control the use of firecrackers in cities and towns where air quality is below normal or green firecrackers and limit the burn time to two hours.

Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, chairman of the NGT, has directed all district magistrates to ensure that prohibited firecrackers are not sold and compensation is recovered from those found violating them.
