PHE Minister inspects Kangchup and Singda new water treatment plants

Imphal, December 01 2020: PHE Minister Losii Dikho inspected the water treatment plants at Singda and Kangchup today.

The plants which are equipped with filtration systems and upgraded heavy machinery will be one of the main water supply facilities in the valley areas.

"Funded under Rural Infrastructure Development funds (RIDF), the two plants are at its final stage of completion and will be inaugurated very soon" stated the PHE Minister.

Moreover, apart from the large underground water reservoirs constructed to supply more areas of Imphal through large overhead tanks and reservoirs which are already under construction, the 2 plants are also equipped with two large Clarifloculator, Extension and Rehabilitation facilities.

The former system will supply huge quantities of water to overhead tank's in some Imphal areas while the latter will provide drinking water to Iroisemba water supply plant.

The PHE Minister further directed the work agencies to complete the projects without delay to meet the water scarcity issues and prepare for the dry season.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress at both water treatment sites, the Minister stated that the new and upgraded facilities at Singda and Kangchup will be activated very soon.

The demand for a proper water supply system in most Imphal valley areas will be a reality soon, he added.
