Farm laws: Christian United Federation to support farmers' agitation

Protesting farmers from Punjab take rest at Nirankari Ground in Burari, New Delhi.
LUDHIANA: The Christian United Federation (CUF) has come out in support of the ongoing agitation by the farmers against the recently-enacted farm laws.
Addressing journalists in Ludhiana on Wednesday, Albert Dua, the head of the organisation, said that how can the government or the countrymen ignore the efforts of farmers who feed the people.
"Why doesn't the government listen to the farmers and consider their demands? Why can't the government make amendments in the farm laws?" Dua questioned.
"Farmers had to sit in the open braving the cold conditions to vent their anger," Dua said adding that he too will visit Delhi to support their demands.
Dua said that if said that if the government failed to meet farmers' demands, the country may witness a civil war which will have "devastating consequences".
"That is why, the government should end the impasse through negotiations as soon as possible and assure farmers that no such laws will be implemented in the future," he said.
