India vs Australia (IND vs AUS) 3rd ODI Highlights: Having already lost the three-match ODI series against hosts Australia, India played for pride on Wednesday and won the third and final ODI at the picturesque Manuka Oval in Canberra. India beat Australia by 13 runs and avoided a series whitewash. They have grabbed their first points in the ICC men’s cricket World Cup Super League table. Player of the Match for the third ODI is Hardik Pandya for his 92 not out.
Australia did feel the absence of David Warner, but Glenn Maxwell almost gave India a heart-attack, until Jasprit Bumrah cleaned him up with a clinical yorker. Finch was amongst the runs once again, but Steve Smith couldn’t repeat his heroics. And that’s what hurt the hosts.
3rd ODI, Manuka Oval, Canberra, 02 Dec, 2020
Lbw!! and it's Bumrah who picks up the last wicket of Zampa. India win by 13 runs. Thakur, Natarajan and Bumrah helped India defend their score, leading them to win the third ODI! Australia clinch the series 2-1 !
Player of the Match: Hardik Pandya for his 76-ball 92
Player of the Series is Steve Smith for his 216 runs at a strike rate of 149
15 runs off 6 balls; Bumrah to bowl it.
It's Natarajan this time around with the wicket of Agar for 28. India one wicket away from a win now. Agar makes room and chips the fullish delivery straight to the fielder at extra cover. Score after 48 overs, AUS 282/9
47th over goes for just four runs and Thakur ends it by removing Abbott. 25 needed off 18 balls now with two wickets left
How well was that set up? First, a short ball which was called a wide but the next one is on target. Full and straight, Maxwell was searching for the room. Maxwell is gone for 59! Just what India needed. Will this be the turning point? Score after 44.3 ovs, AUS- 268/7
Another fifty for the middle-order batsman. He is taking the attack to Natarajan. With a six he reaches his fifty and then gets a boundary. However, that's not all as Ashton Agar gets into the act and gets a boundary with a square-cut. 18 runs from the over and Australia edging closer to the total. Score after 44 overs, AUS 264/6
It is the switch hit by Maxwell and its a massive hit over the point region for a maximum! The game could still go either way, but Team India need Glenn Maxwell's scalp who's nearing his fifty and connecting the big hits. Australia need 57 runs in 42 balls. Score after 43 overs, AUS 246/6
76 runs needed off the final 10 overs - who wins it from here?
With 10 overs left, Australia need 76 runs to reach past the 303-run target. Glenn Maxwell is in great touch and getting boundaries with ease, let's see how these 60 balls change the game for India or Australia
India got the much-needed wicket of Alex Carey and ended their 52-run partnership. A suicidal of a run-out has caused Aussie hopes a big dent. A brain fade for Carey as there was never a run there. Carey's gone for 38(42)
Australians are pinning hopes on this partnership as Alex Carey (38) and Glenn Maxwell (26) have stitched an unbeaten 50-run partnership so far. So just like India's sixth-wicket stand, even Australia's sixth-wicket stand is proving to be a pivotal one.
Glenn Maxwell can be disastrous for India as the right-hander hit two back to back sixes off Jadeja taking Aussie total close to 200 in the 36th over. Jaddu made a comeback in last two balls but ended up conceding 14 runs.
Drinks are on the field now.. 135 runs required in 17 overs with 5 wickets in hand India strike at regular intervals to dent Australia’s chase. Will we see a ‘Big Show’ from Glenn Maxwell? Score after 33 overs, AUS 168/5
Jadeja in the act once again, this time with a splendid catch to end Green's innings. First wicket for Kuldeep Yadav. Was a tossed-up delivery by Kuldeep Yadav and the debutant swept it uppishly, but with Jadeja in the deep it was always going to be a risky. Score after 31 overs, AUS 159/5
Ravindra Jadeja has dismissed the dangerous Aaron Finch. Finch didn't quite get it off the middle to clear the long straight boundaries and Dhawan takes it on the second attempt. The reverse cup almost spelled trouble for Gabbar! Can India press their advantage? Score after 26 overs, AUS 133/4
Thakur strikes again and the partnership is broken at last. The ball with the cross-seam was pitched short of a length and Moises Henriques went for the pull and it goes straight to Dhawan at mid-wicket. | Score after 23 overs, AUS 118/3
Aaron Finch - last four ODI innings at home
60(75) vs NZ Sydney
114(124) vs Ind Sydney
60(69) vs Ind Sydney
55*(61) vs Ind Canberra
Bowled it around the leg-stump and Finch kneels sweeps it fine, there's a fielder in the deep but he was square and had no chance of chasing that down. AUS are 83/2 after 17 ovs
A maiden over from Shardul Thakur, who is having a good day so far. There is an enquiry for a caught behind but nothing from the umpire. AUS are 66/2 after 14 overs.
India lose a review as LBW shout against Finch shows the ball missing stumps. 2 runs from the over. AUS are 66/2 after 13 overs.
