Puducherry health secretary tests positive for Covid-19

PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry health secretary T Arun, who tested positive for Covid-19 and was under treatment at his residence, was admitted to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) after he complained of breathlessness on Wednesday.
Chief minister V Narayanasamy, health minister Malladi Krishna Rao and chief secretary Ashwani Kumar wished him a speedy recovery.
The territory reported 60 fresh cases while 65 patients recovered bringing down the number of active cases to 432. The positivity rate of the samples (3,431) tested on Wednesday stood at 1.7%.
A 63-year-old woman died of the infection taking the death toll to 612. The fatality rate is 1.7%. Puducherry has the maximum fatalities with 501 followed by Karaikal (59), Yanam (44) and Mahe (8).
The territory so far reported 37,079 cases of which 36,035 recovered registering a recovery rate of 97.2%.
Healthcare authorities have sent 4.08 lakh swab samples of which 3.67 lakh samples tested negative.
