A special team of the Pulianthope police arrested two men who were involved in snatchings using stolen bikes and seized 42 mobile phones and four bikes from them.

Chennai: One of the seized bikes belongs to one Kavitha, a school teacher, and the wife of a police inspector, Sivamani. Kavitha lodged a complaint at the Sembium police station on October 22, a day after the bike was stolen.The accused, identified as K Ezhumalai (29) of Vyasarpadi and M Prathap (26) of Gummidipoondi were secured with the help of the cyber cell and CCTV foot-ages. Investigation revealed that the duo, along with a few others, snatched phones from pedestrians in Sembium, Basin Bridge, Pulianthope, Kodungaiyur and Vepery. Among the accused, Ezhumalai has three attempted murder cases pending against him. The duo was remanded in judicial custody. Similarly, the Kodungaiyur police arrested two men who attacked minor boy, Keerthivasan, and escaped with his father’s bike. The accused were identified as N Manikandan of Erukkancheri, and Linga Perumal (20).
