LPL 2020 Setback – Shahid Afridi returning home : Lanka Premier League inaugural edition is proving to be jinxed for Galle Gladiators. The LPL 2020 franchise has not only lost their first 3 games of the league but now has lost their captain Shahid Afridi.
Afridi has decided to return back to Pakistan citing a ‘personal emergency’ according to a report by ESPN Cricinfo. It’s only been one week since Afridi came to Sri Lanka to play in the LPL 2020 but decided to go back leaving team in complete distress.
According to Afridi, once the personal emergency is handled he may return to Sri Lanka. It is worth noting that Galle Gladiators is the only team which is yet to win even a single match in the league. Even if Afridi returns in a week’s time – LPL 2020 for Gladiators will end by that time.
Franchise is yet to clear who will captain the team in Afridi’s absence.
Like Afridi, Afghan fast bowler Aftab Alam also has returned home for Dambulla Viking.
