Ruling min taunts LoP saying he is accepted by BJP but not by his own party Cong as its leader

Dharamshala, Dec 2 (UNI) ( UNI) Taking a dig at the Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri, Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania said the Himachal government recognizes him as the Leader of the Opposition but it seems that his own party avoids considering him as their leader.
He said while most of the MLAs of his own party in the all-party meeting were demanding the cancellation of the winter session keeping in mind the public interest, however, the Leader of Opposition is busy inciting the government and making absurd allegations to pursue selfish politics.
Pathania alleged that Agnihotri is forgetting that he is leading a party whose previously luxurious existence is now in ruins. Usefulness of the Leader of Opposition in his party is evident from the fact that he was absent in the meeting held at G.S. Bali's house in Kangra, while other prominent Congress leaders were present there.
Pathania alleged that the statements of Ghulam Nabi Azad and Kapil Sibal are sufficient to show the prevailing circumstances of the Congress.
Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania said the Himachal Pradesh government is seriously fighting the battle of Corona with active involvement of people under the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. Upset by people's response and involvement with the government to prevent the Corona transition, the leader of the opposition is making irrelevant statement.
He said it seems that the opposition is forgetting the tune of public welfare. In the cabinet meeting held in Shimla the decision to cancel the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, to be held in Tapovan, Dharamshala from 07 to 11 December, was earlier notified by the Himachal government.
At the time the notification was issued, the number of Corona cases was extremely low. But with the sudden increase in cases, the cabinet unanimously decided to postpone not only this winter session, but also several other important decisions in the public interest.
Rakesh Pathania said in view of the sudden spurt in Corona cases across the state, the cabinet has banned public programmes of ministers and MLAs till December 15. Only virtual programs are allowed. The Cabinet has taken preventive measures in the containment zone to break the corona virus chain. Not more than 50 people will be allowed to attend these ceremonies. Random sampling will be done to identify infected individuals in early stages to prevent further spread of the corona. In addition, all the ministers assigned to the districts will have to ensure the operation and implementation of the Him Suraksha campaign effectively.

Rakesh Pathania said the opposition has no solid issue against the government. It is the Himachal government, which successfully conducted a 10-day monsoon session in Shimla even during the Corona transition whereas all the legislative assemblies across the country were adjourned after running for a few hours. According to the opposition's demand a debate was held under Rule 67 but in the debate that lasted for three days the opposition legislators had no concrete facts other than to chant rants. He said now that the corona infection has accelerated physical and social distance has become mandatory in addition to masks and sanitization to break its chain, the government has decided to cancel the session of Dharamshala-Tapovan.
In such a situation, the cabinet has taken a historic decision to cancel the winter session in view of the demand of most of the legislators in the public interest to break the corona chain.
