Madras High Court Chief Justice AP Sahi, who tested positive for COVID last month, resumed his judicial duties on Tuesday.
Chennai: Justice Sahi, sitting along with Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy, dictated a few orders and took up the hearing of cases on virtual mode.
Advocates who were present for the hearing rendered a welcome with a few lauding him from taking treatment at a Government hospital. During the course of greetings, Chief Justice Sahi remarked that he ought to confess that he may have overreached in undertaking physical inspections to certain subordinate courts prior to his falling ill.
While Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi was among the lawyers who extended his greetings, he observed that such inspection is necessary to rejuvenate the subordinate judiciary. The Chief Justice recalled that a taluk court, which was waiting to be inaugurated for a year and instead had turned into a police booth, was inaugurated the next day following his intervention. The Chief Justice was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai with symptoms of COVID on November 4 and thereafter tested positive with the CT scan suggesting a lung infection. However, after 10 days of admission, he was discharged two weeks ago.
