CHENNAI: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to hold road shows in Tamil Nadu from January, as the party gears up for the 2021 assembly elections in the state. Rahul is likely to undertake at least 4-5 visits to the state.
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee has planned to invite leaders of alliance parties to participate in the events based on their availability. AICC in-charge for Tamil Nadu Dinesh Gundu Rao, accompanied by TNCC president K S Alagiri and Congress legislature party leader K R Ramasamy, called on DMK president M K Stalin here on Wednesday.
“It was a courtesy call. We did not discuss anything on assembly elections or seat sharing at the meeting,” Rao told reporters. In a statement issued separately, the DMK also termed it as a “courtesy meet” between the leaders of the two parties.
“We are planning a mix of road shows including public meetings for Rahul Gandhi, who will be visiting Tamil Nadu after the monsoon. He will undertake at least 4-5 visits from January and the idea is to get alliance party leaders to join the events. This will be the right way to gear up for the assembly polls,” Alagiri told TOI.
