The premium channel Showtime is launching a new free channel on the ad-supported OTT TV service Pluto TV in the US. This gives viewers free access to a selection of Showtime programming, under the name ‘Showtime Selects’, Variety reports.
Both Showtime and Pluto TV are owned by ViacomCBS. A subscription to Showtime’s standard service costs USD 10.99 per month. Exposure among the wider audience on Pluto is expected to drive sign-ups for Showtime’s premium service.
Around 250 hours of content is available at the launch of Showtime Selects, including the latest season of Shameless and select episodes of originals including The Affair, Ray Donovan, Billions, The L Word and Californication.
