Without having played a game last week, BYU still managed to move up, albeit one spot, in the latest College Football Playoff Selection Committee Rankings released Tuesday, to the No. 13.
The Cougars have one game currently left on their 2020 season schedule, hosting San Diego State Dec. 12. That game suddenly has more importance than just keeping the Cougars’ undefeated — it could help edge the Cougars into a New Year’s 6 bowl game.
The slight bump was made possible by Northwestern’s performance over the weekend. Previously in the Top 10, Northwestern dropped eight spots to No. 14 after losing to Michigan State.
The Cougars have yet another bye week this week, so they won’t be able to impress the committee before the next rankings unless they are able to add an opponent before playing the Aztecs.
