CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam on Wednesday said the people of Tamil Nadu would never believe the false propaganda of the opposition DMK.
In a series of tweets, the AIADMK coordinator alleged that the DMK, which pretended to care about the farmers, had permitted the coal bed methane initiative in the state and betrayed the interests of the farmers. “But it was Amma (Jayalaltihaa), who banned the methane project in 2013 and safeguarded the interests of farmers,” he said.
He posted a photograph of the state government signing an MoU with Great Eastern Energy Corporation Limited for the methane project in the presence of DMK chief MK Stalin, the then deputy chief minister, in January 2011.
Recalling the law enacted by the AIADMK government declaring the Cauvery delta as protected special agricultural zone in February last, Panneerselvam said the AIADMK government was the protector of farmers. “People are well aware of this,” he said.
