A lone ally of President Donald Trump in the House of Representatives has committed to contesting the Electoral College vote as reports indicate plans for a potential 2024 run could already be underway at the White House.

House Republican Mo Brooks would need a senator to join him in contesting the results of the Electoral College for any meaningful process to occur, and even still it’s unlikely the results of the 2020 election could be overturned at this point, with President-elect Joe Biden having clearly won a sizable victory over the incumbent president.

But news of the lawmaker’s adamant promise to aid the president in his attempts to overturn the election come as Mr Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani reportedly seeks a pre-emptive pardon, according to The New York Times. Mr Trump has also reportedly discussed pardons for his children Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump - as well as Ms Trump’s husband Jared Kushner.
