WORLD AIDS DAY: Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society Conducted Awareness Program with the Global Theme “Walk the RED and Talk the RED”.

 

Chandigarh, 01 December, 2020: Each year, on 1st December, the world commemorates World AIDS Day. To mark this day, the Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society conducted various awareness programs in the city.

“Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility”: A Virtual Fashion Walk 

A State-level program was conducted in collaboration with Haryana SACS in accordance with the Global Theme of “Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility, wherein a Virtual Fashion Walk was conducted “Walk the RED and talk the RED”. The Bollywood celebrity Sargun Mehta was the show stopper. Everyone was dressed up in Red spreading awareness and prevention messages by holding placards. The members of the Transgender Community joined in the virtual fashion walk.

Another program was conducted in collaboration with Chandigarh Network for Positive People (CNP+) where a cake cutting ceremony was done involving small children giving a message “Children are a future and let’s keep them safe by getting every pregnant woman tested for HIV so that the mother to child transmission could be stopped.” Partner NGOs conducted health camps, awareness talks, distribution of masks, medicines, nutrition to the needy to observe this day.

Dr. Vanita Gupta informed that all precautionary measures were taken while conducting awareness programs to mark World AIDS Day. State Programme was conducted physically as well as virtually to avoid crowd gathering.
