Benchmark indices ended higher at a record close on Tuesday with gains led by I.T., metals, and pharma stocks.
Nifty surged by 1.08% or 140.10 points and closed above the 13,000-mark at 13,109.05, while S&P BSE Sensex went up by 1.15% or 505.72 points and closed at 44,655.44 points. Around 1869 shares advanced, 974 shares declined, while 169 shares remained unchanged.
GAIL (7.94%), Sun Pharma (5.74%), IndusInd Bank (4.94%), Tech Mahindra (3.79%), and UPL (3.90%) were among the top Nifty gainers. In contrast, Nestle (2.57%), Kotak Bank (1.63%), Titan (1.34%), Bajaj Finance (1.12%), and HDFC Bank (0.82%) were among the top Nifty losers.
On the sectoral end, PSU Bank index rose by 3% while all the sectoral indices ended in the green. BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap rose by 0.94% and 0.82%, respectively.
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Stocks of Glenmark Pharma rose by 1.20% and traded at Rs. 477.05 after the company received tentative approval from USFDA for Axitinib tablets. These tablets are used in the treatment of kidney cancer.
Lupin Ltd.
The company received the USFDA approval for Penicillamine tablets that are used in the treatment of Wilson’s disease and patients who suffer from severe active rheumatoid arthritis. The stocks of the company surged by 2.27% and traded at Rs. 912.00.
DLF Ltd.
Stocks of DLF Ltd. surged by 4.22% and traded at Rs. 195.10 after the real estate firm announced selling nearly 90% independent floors worth Rs. 300 crore in Gurugram.
Bajaj Auto Ltd.
Bajaj Auto reported an increase of 5% in its total sales for November’20. The company’s domestic sales declined by 4% and exports rose by 14%. The stocks of the two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturer, however, surged by 2.16% and traded at Rs. 3,242.00.
Capacite Infraprojects Ltd.
The company received repeat orders worth Rs. 148.3 crore from Raymond Limited for TenX Project at Raymond Limited. The stocks of the company surged by 5.35% and traded at Rs. 193.
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited
The company’s tractor sales jumped by 56% while the tractor exports rose by 79% and stood at 1,107 units. The firm’s sales of passenger vehicles were up by 24% and stood at 18,212 units. The stocks of the company rose by 1.47% and traded at Rs. 732.60.
Indian Rupee
The Indian rupee traded higher by 50 paise at Rs. 73.55 against the U.S. Dollar with the buying seen in the domestic equity markets.
Global Markets end in the green
Global markets ended in the green amid COVID on account of hopes over the coronavirus vaccine among the investors. All major indices ended higher. FTSE MIB rose by 0.27%, FTSE 100 went up by 2.00%, Nikkei 225 surged by 1.34%, while Hang Seng went up by 0.86%.
