Polling commenced from 7am onwards and among the early birds to cast their vote were Union minister of state for home G Kishan Reddy, Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, TRS working president and municipal minister KT Rama Rao, former Union minister and megastar K Chiranjeevi.

Many polling booths remained empty even at 7.30am, half an hour after polling time started. Though there was winter morning chill, bright sunshine provided the much needed warmth in the morning for the voters.

Asaduddin Owaisi and KTR, after casting their vote, appealed to the voters to come out and vote. Owaisi said there is need to increase the polling percentage which has not crossed 46 per cent in the last few elections to the civic body in the state capital.

Owaisi appealed to the youth to come out in large numbers and exercise their electoral franchise. "The future is yours and you should participate in the voting," Owaisi said while referring to the youth.

Voters followed social distancing norms at some of the polling booths while at a few other polling stations it was not followed.
