Costa Rica consults on 5G spectrum tender

Tuesday 1 December 2020 | 12:07 CET | News
Costa Rica’s telecommunications regulator Sutel has launched a public consultation to ascertain industry views on a future tender of 5G-compatible frequencies, reports El Financiero. The watchdog is considering the possibility of auctioning frequencies in the 700MHz, 2.3GHz, 3.3GHz-3.4GHz, 26GHz and 28GHz bands as a first step, while other bands including 2.6GHz and 3.5GHz may also be made available.

Interested parties have been asked to provide their opinion on bandwidth requirements as well as the participation of new entrants and the creation of a potential wholesale mobile network in the hands of state-backed operator Grupo ICE, among other issues, said the report.
