The Best Cyber Monday Deals Under $50 

Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals are popular for the big-ticket items—TVs, mattresses, a brand new phone—but we're not all ready to spend hundreds of dollars. That's why we've rounded up some of the best deals under $50, whether you're shopping for yourself or browsing for gifts.

The Streaming Stick+ is our Roku pick for most people and our favorite streaming device overall. It works with HD or 4K UHD HDR televisions and sticks into the back of your TV's HDMI port (a second cable plugs into the TV's USB port for power). It has dual-band Wi-Fi that has a longer range and can connect to 2.4-GHz or 5-GHz networks—particularly handy for city apartments—plus the remote has volume and power buttons.

The Premiere is a fine option if you'd like to spend as little as possible. Instead of a stick that plugs directly into the TV, the Premiere is a small box that connects via an included HDMI cord, and must also plug into a power outlet. It plays high-resolution 4K content with HDR10 support, but its remote doesn't have volume control or a TV power button, so you have to keep another remote handy.

Smart Speaker Deals

Best Buy, Walmart, Lenovo

We like all of Lenovo's smart displays, and this new alarm clock is a nice addition to a bedside table if you just want a clock interface with Google Assistant capabilities. There's no camera or bright display, but there is a microphone so you can whisper to Assistant to turn off the lights. You can turn off the microphones when you're not using it, and it also has a nice dim nightlight on the back. It's smaller than Lenovo's other Smart Clock (also on sale for $35), so it won't take up much room on the nightstand.

Target, Amazon

This recently-updated spherical speaker has Alexa built in. Our tester loves it so far, and says it has better sound than previous versions. You can bundle it with a Sengled Smart Bulb for the same price.

Target, Walmart

B&H Photo Video ($20, Backordered), Target ($30), Best Buy

The TP-Link Kasa plug is our runner-up pick in our Best Smart Plugs guide. Just make sure to buy the HS105 model. The app is easy to use, and our staff who own these haven't run into any problems. You can also group plugs together so you can control several items at once. They work with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

This is more than $50, but it's a good deal on a tablet that's already affordable—the HD 8 is our pick for a value tablet. The HD 8 has most of the benefits of the HD 10, including hands-free Alexa, stereo sound, USB-C, and nearly 12 hours of battery life.

This bulb usually retails for around $35, so the $18 sale price plus 20 percent more off when you click the coupon button is a solid deal. It wasn't our favorite light bulb, but it worked perfectly fine and does what a smart bulb should do.

Walmart

We love an Instant Pot, and they're usually on sale during any big deals holiday. This one is half off, and it can do everything you might want, like pressure and slow cook, make rice, and even sous vide. The Duo Nova is on sale for $100 from Macy's, but it doesn't have sous vide capabilities, if that's important to you.

Catit (Plastic Flower), Catit (Stainless Steel)

We have a guide to cat accessories in the works and—spoiler alert—we love both Catit Water Fountains we tested. If your cat seems disinterested in their water bowl (and attracted to the faucet), they may prefer a fountain. The all-plastic version has a cute detachable flower that can be set up for three water-flow settings. The stainless-steel-topped one has only one flow setting, but it still works well, and the top is dishwasher-safe. We recommend cleaning both options often, since plastic can get dingy. You'll also need to regularly replace the filters (which are also 25 percent off right now, including the rest of Catit's products).

Misfits Market rescues ugly produce, that is vegetables and fruit perfectly tasty and healthy to eat, but which have been rejected by traditional grocers for being slightly undersized, blemished, or oddly shaped. It's not going to protect your phone from a big drop, but it will keep it safe from everyday bumps and scuffs. The transparent version is made of thermoplastic polyurethane, which is more heavy-duty than the flexible plastic matte version. Phone grips make good, small holiday gifts. PopSockets has a sale running sitewide, so it’s a good time to pick up a new grip if yours is grubby. All of these options are around $11 or less. Shipping is free on orders over $20.

The Clip 3 is another great option for portable sound. I (Louryn) use it to play music while I'm rollerskating so I can still hear cars over the music. The built-in carabiner makes it easy to hang the speaker from a fanny pack. (Or a curtain rod, if you're the kind of person who likes accompaniment when you sing in the shower. Don't ask me how I know.)

Webcams have gotten both more expensive and harder to find since the onset of the pandemic. This option is perfectly capable and super inexpensive.

The WIRED Gear team has lots of go-to tangents, but get one of us started on the lack of wall adapters being included with modern technology, and we might never stop ranting. Like Alanis Morissette (probably) once said: It's like 10,000 cables when all you need is a wall adapter. This Aukey one can recharge your MacBook or two phones simultaneously.

Monoprice

If you have a dual-monitor setup, consider mounting them to keep them at a comfortable height (and you'll get more desk space back too). Monoprice makes solid home office products, and this mount is for smaller monitors up to 27 inches. There are single mounts and other sizes too.

This tiny MicroSD card usually retails for $60. It's best for expanding your smartphone's storage (if it supports a MicroSD card). WIRED writer Scott Gilbertson says it isn't good for devices where write speed is critical, like a camera. If you need storage for your digital camera, opt for the Sony 32-GB SF-G Tough Series UHS-II SDHC Memory Card instead, which is on sale for $55—it's more expensive than other memory cards, but Gilbertson swears by it. The Lexar Professional 2000x 32-GB SDHC UHS-II Card is a solid option also on sale for $37.

This card is fast and durable. It'll work anywhere you'd normally use it, but it's especially great for video recording, making it a good option for dash or security cameras. The Samsung EVO 256 GB Card is on sale for $25.

This is one of the best gaming mice. It's clicky and tactile, and there are a few buttons to help you customize your gameplay.

Game Deals

GameStop

Hideo Kojima directed this bizarre-in-a-good-way game. You play as Sam, a deliveryman in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by angry, hungry ghost-monsters. (We feel it's important to mention that Sam is played by Norman Reedus.)

Nintendo

This is Louryn's absolute favorite game of 2020. It's fun to play and ridiculously hard. Luckily, when you inevitably die over and over again, you'll just further the storyline. Read more about it in WIRED's review.

Best Buy

This title is an oldie but a goodie. WIRED reviewer Jess Grey says it's one of her favorites. You'll choose your own adventure in an Evil Dead-like horror setting, attempting to avoid a murderer while stranded on top of a mountain.

GameStop

If you own a PlayStation and play games online, you need PlayStation Plus. Right now, you can get a year of it for cheaper than normal.

If you hike, camp, or have a disaster kit at the ready, a LifeStraw is a good thing to include. It filters contaminated water without batteries or other accessories. We've seen it drop to $10 before, so you may want to wait and see if the price falls even more.

These packing cubes are awesome. We recommend them in our pandemic road trip guide, and several of us here at WIRED use them. We aren’t traveling right now, but for future trips, these cubes will come in handy. I (Louryn) have a tendency to drastically overpack; these compressive cubes satisfy my irrational need to overstuff my suitcase.

REI

HydroFlasks are some of the best insulated bottles out there. WIRED's Matt Jancer has used one for years to hold coffee on road trips, protein shakes at the gym, and ice water for surviving a non-air-conditioned loft in a heat wave. These are bomber-tough and will stand up as well as any insulated bottle.

The Colgate Hum is an electric brush done right—you don't need to stare at your phone every time you brush your teeth to map your progress and get feedback—and it's cheaper than most smart brushes out there.

If you don't need a rechargeable brush, a version that takes AAA batteries is on sale for $40 from Colgate (with HUMFORTHEHOLIDAYS code) and $45 from Amazon.

Disposable face masks are not the most environmentally friendly option—we do recommend investing in some reusable masks—but they are are lightweight and breathable. They're a good option if you're prone to dreaded mascne.

These are on our Best Face Masks list. When a WIRED staffer's relative was sick with Covid-19, she found them comfortable enough to sleep in. We prefer the ear loop style to the tie-back style. This thermometer usually costs between $30 and $50. It uses infrared to read body temperature in just one second, so you won't have to deal with probing under a sick kid's tongue.

Not all colors are $6 off, but these are reviewer Louryn Strampe's favorite reusable straws. They fold down neatly into the included case, and when it’s time to use them, they automatically unfurl and snap together as you pull them out. They’re pretty, they’re easy to clean, and the soft rubber tips keep them comfortable. More importantly, they cut down on unnecessary plastic. Final’s reusable sporks are on sale (matched at Amazon)—the sporks are weighty and easy to eat with.

If you wear makeup, you should be removing it first before washing your face to be sure it all comes off. If you're using makeup wipes for that step (or going through hundreds of cottons balls), stop. They're wasteful and rough on your skin.
