Australia's Marnus Labuschagne

Hyderabad: Australia suffered a big blow in the second ODI against India. Despite the victory, the hosts lost attacking opener David Warner who suffered groin injury while fielding.

The southpaw is likely to be out for quite a while. The hosts are fearing Warner may not recover in time for the Test series as well. With him gone out of the picture for the third ODI and T20 series, former cricketers are looking at Marnus Labuschagne as their alternative opener.

The third ODI, which will be played on Wednesday, is a dead rubber as the hosts have already won the series 2-0. Labuschagne showed his class with a 61-ball 70 in the second ODI and former spinner Brad Hogg thinks Labuschagne would be an ideal opener and partner for Aaron Finch. Hogg took to Twitter and wrote, “No Warner, Labuschagne’s batting style would thrive as an opener in ODI cricket. Definitely Australia’s best option to open with Finch in the final ODI. #INDvsAUS #Cricket.”
