Children’s Day would always be one of those special days in schools — from food packets, to classes, to those endless hours of fun with classmates. This was not the case this year indeed. This was a very distinct Children’s Day, one that will probably remain etched in the young minds. Delhi Public School, Nadergul made this Children’s Day special by organising week-long celebrations from November 5 to 12.
The school has organised a virtual week-long celebration encouraging kids to outpour their artistic skills. During the week-long celebrations, children were allowed to participate in as many events as they can. Each day was dedicated to a specific theme.
Day one had an art theme with children taking part in Mixed Media Art, 3D Art drawings, Image making with Household Objects, Quilling Origami, Almanac cover design, Conceptual Art. While on day two children took part in a music show. Fun-filled activities like a favourite song, identify rhymes with character, cartoon themes, identify advertisement jingles & captions, dumb charades, antakshari and song writing.
On day three students tapping their feet to the various dance forms like semi-classical, pop, retro, theme, classical, western, folk, robot and dumb. On day four, DPS best dramebaaz, pin of creative advertisements, mime, roleplay, depicting actors/actresses, folk stories (Burra katha & Hari katha) and Photography were organised.
On day five, through engaging in the cooking festival, students have learnt to appreciate just what it takes to get lunch on their tray each day by actively participating in creative pizza and burgers, no bake cake, dry cooking (without fire), salad with fruit/vegetable carving, baking and grilling. The school complimented students for wonderful and active participation in various events. Students with a maximum of participation were rewarded with certificates with a gold badge.
