Imphal, November 30 2020: The Kabui Union, Manipur representing the entire Kabui community of Manipur has urged the Chief Minister to immediately revoke the order dated November 18 enlisting the guidelines for grant in aid for organising State Level Gaan-Ngai celebration and maintain status quo of the earlier order on January 4 .

In a letter written to the CM, the Kabui Union pointed out that the Additional Chief Secretary, the Director and Minister of Tribal affairs and Hills, Government of Manipur have purposefully sidelined the genuine grievances of the native Kabui community.

They urged that the four expert committee members should be the customary Kabui heads or experts who lay down the ancestral customary rites and the systems which are carried down since time immemorial and not some academicians.

It further stated that Gaan-Ngai is the customary festival of the Kabui tribe only and not some religious festival of Zeliangrong.

They demanded that the native Kabui should be the only stakeholder of Gaan-Ngai.

In the said letter, it also enclosed the forty one Kabui village authorities denouncing the present Government guidelines of State Level Gaan-Ngai.
