District health authorities have increased bed capacity in designated Covid-19 hospitals to 4726 on Saturday amidst a resurge in cases. The decision to increase bed capacity in Covid-19 hospitals was taken after high influx of patients in the hospital during the ongoing second wave.
CMHO in-charge Dr Praveen Jadia said, “We have increased the bed capacity to 4726 beds in the district including the ones in ICUs, high dependency units, beds with oxygen and in isolation.” The beds were added by taking over more beds in 41 designated private hospitals, which had struggled with high occupancy of earmarked beds, along with adding one more health institution in its ambit, said Dr Jadia.
Currently, there are 47 health facilities for treatment of Covid-19 patients in the district including five government hospitals under Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College.
