New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) Calling the farmers the 'strength' of the country, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday demanded the government to withdraw the three agriculture reform laws, while giving a thought to the ryots' demands.
In a video message released on micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Gandhi said the farmer of the nation has come up to Delhi out in open, braving the cold weather and leaving behind his home and farm, to raise his voice against the three laws.
Now is the need for all the countrymen, to stand with the farmers, Mr Gandhi added.
He said the true worship of the nation was guarding its strength, and farmers were the country's strength. According to Mr Gandhi, the biggest question that arises here, is why are the ryots out on roads, why are they walking for hundreds of kilometers to reach here, why has the traffic come at a standstill.
'PM Modi says that the three laws are for farmers benefit. If these are for farmers benefit then why is the farmer so angry, why is the farmer not happy. These laws are for PM Modi's two or three friends.
'These laws are for stealing from the farmers and therefore, we all will have to stand with the strength of the nation, we will have to stand with the farmers. Wherever our farmers brothers are, people, all Congressmen must come forward and help them, must provide for food and also stand with them,' he added.
