National Sports University and National Centre of Sports Coaching, Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala organised a two day international webinar on 'Sports coaching education and best practices: An international perspective' from November 26 to 27 .
Ravi Mital, Sports Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, was the chief guest of the ceremony.
During his inaugural speech, he emphasised on the importance of different coaching educational programmes needed for India to achieve the standards of western countries.
He opined that there was a need for a National Sports Board for Coaching Education to formulate standardised coaching programmes.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by RC Mishra, Vice Chancellor, NSU.
He highlighted the courses offered by NSU and the need to improve educational programmes in India.
The two days webinar focused on the challenges and opportunities available for making coaching education relevant to the 21st century and to international standards.
Experts from Germany, Sweden and India deliberated on the changes required in the coaching education in India.
About 1000 participants including coaches, sports administrators, physical educationists and students joined
the webinar.
