Brazil’s Ministry of Communications has published two ordinances that aim to simplify the procedures for obtaining licences for radio and TV broadcasters. According to Minister Fabio Faria the initiative will speed up the processes, which previously took years to be concluded. The changes apply to the entire broadcasting sector, which includes commercial, educational and community radio and TV broadcasters.
Before, entities had to submit technical reports and a series of documents that made licensing difficult. With the new regulations, the entire licensing process is simplified, explained Maximiliano Martinhao, broadcasting secretary at the Ministry of Communications.
