New Delhi: The number of COVID-19 cases reported in India in a span of 24 hours dropped below 40,000 for the seventh time this month, taking the infection tally to 94.31 lakh, while the recoveries surged to 88,47,600, according to the Union Health Ministry's data updated on Monday.
The total coronavirus cases mounted to 94,31,691 with 38,772 new infections, while the death count climbed to 1,37,139 after 443 more fatalities were reported, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 88,47,600, pushing the national recovery rate to 93.81 per cent. The COVID-19 case fatality rate declined further to 1.45 per cent.
The active COVID-19 caseload remained below five lakh for the 20th consecutive day.
There are 4,46,952 active cases in the country which comprise 4.74 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

Coronavirus news: Arvind Kejriwal issues directives to reduce price of RT-PCR test in DelhiDelhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said he has issued directives to reduce the price of the RT-PCR test in the national capital, saying it will help those going to private labs for COVID-19 tests.
Currently, people have to spend Rs 2,400 for the RT-PCR test at private labs.
"I have directed that the rates of RT PCR tests be reduced in Delhi. Whereas tests are being conducted free of cost in govt establishments, however this will help those who get their tests done in pvt labs," Mr Kejriwal tweeted.
COVID-19: Puducherry adds 33 new cases; recovery rate stands at 97.11%The recovery rate from coronavirus in the union territory of Puducherry stood at 97.11 per cent on Monday while the number of active cases was 460, a top Health department official said.
After 10 straight days of no COVID-19 death being reported, Puducherry saw a fresh fatality as a 74-year old woman in Mahe succumbed to Covid pneumonia pushing the count to 610, Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release.
As many as 33 fresh coronavirus cases were reported during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Monday, taking the overall tally to 36,968.

COVID-19: 728 new cases in Maharashtra's Thane, tally reaches 2,28,588The COVID-19 tally in Maharashtra's Thane district has risen to 2,28,588 with the addition of 728 new cases of the disease, a district administration official said on Monday.
The district has also reported eight more deaths due to COVID-19, raising the count to 5,677, he said.
Currently, there are 7,946 active coronavirus cases in the district, while 2,14,965 patients have recovered, he said.
The COVID-19 recovery rate in the district is 94.94 per cent, while the mortality rate is 2.48 per cent.
The active cases comprise 3.48 per cent of the total coronavirus infections reported in the district so far, the official said.

South Korea reported 438 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Sunday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 34,201.
The daily caseload stayed below 500 for two straight days, but it gained in triple digits for 23 days due to small cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province as well as imported cases.
Of the new cases, 158 were Seoul residents and 69 were people residing in Gyeonggi province.
Twenty-four were imported from overseas, lifting the combined figure to 4,550.

the state's coronavirus tally to 3,826, an official said on Monday.
The new cases were reported from Aizawl district, the official said.
The three patients are from the same family and all of them have developed symptoms of COVID-19, he said. According to the official, there are at present 381 active COVID-19 cases in the state while 3,440 people have recovered from the disease.
The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state now is 89.92 per cent.
Aizawl district has reported the highest COVID-19 cases at 2,581, which is 67.46 per cent of the total 3,826 cases, followed by Lunglei district, which reported 317 cases so far.

COVID-19: Telangana logs 593 new cases, 3 deathsTelangana reported 593 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to nearly 2.70 lakh while three fatalities pushed the count to 1,458, the state government said on Monday.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 119, followed by Rangareddy (61) and Medchal Malkajgiri (55), it said in a bulletin, providing details as of 8 PM on November 29.
As many as10,022 patients are under treatment and33,040 samples were tested on Sunday. Cumulatively, over 54.53 lakh samples have been tested.
The samples tested per million population was over 1.46 lakh, the bulletin said.

According to the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Mizoram, the total discharged cases in the state are 3,440. The active cases in the state are 381, while the death count due to the infection is at five.
Coronavirus news: BJP MLA dies after testing positive for COVID-19BJP leader and MLA from Rajsamand in Rajasthan Kiran Maheshwari, who had tested positive for coronavirus, died at a hospital in Gurgaon.
Ms Maheshwari, a three-time MLA from Rajsamand, was undergoing treatment at Medanta hospital for the past few days. She passed away late Sunday night.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Assembly Speaker CP Joshi, BJP state president Satish Poonia and other leaders condoled her death.

COVID-19: Jharkhand reports 198 new cases; tally rises to 1,08,984Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally mounted to 1,08,984 as 198 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said on Monday.
Ranchi district reported the highest number of new cases at 69, followed by East Singhbhum (29), and Bokaro (15), he said.
No COVID-19 death has been reported in the state in the last-24-hours, the official said.
COVID-19: Brazil surpasses 6.3 million cases
Brazil registered 24,468 new cases and 272 more deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing its national caseload to 6,314,740 and death count to 172,833, the Health Ministry reported Sunday.
The figures released on Sunday were incomplete, as reports on both deaths and cases were slowed down due to it being the weekend as well as the holding of elections in 57 municipalities.
On Sunday, municipal elections were carried out under strict health security measures with all voters required to use masks and observe social distancing.

Another 74 people have died from the coronavirus disease in the Russian capital over the past 24 hours, the city's COVID-19 response center said on Sunday.

COVID-19: Rajasthan imposes night curfew between Dec 1 and 31 in 13 districts
In view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation, Rajasthan government has imposed a night curfew from 8 pm to 6 am within urban limits of 13 district headquarter towns of Kota, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Bhilwara, Nagore, Pali, Tonk, Sikar and Ganganagar from December 1 to 31.
The Rajasthan government said in an order, "All markets, workplaces and commercial complexes will be closed by 7 pm so that the staff and others reach back home by 8 pm, unless special permission is obtained from the officer authorised by the District Collector in this regard."
However, the state government order will not be applicable on - factories with production of continuous nature, factories having night shift, IT companies, chemist shops, offices related to essential emergency services, marriage related gathering, any workplace related to medical services, passengers coming or going to transport terminals.

Coronavirus LIVE Updates: All Educational Institutions To Remain Closed Across J&K Till Year EndIssuing fresh COVID-related guidelines, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday said all educational institutions would remain closed till December 31 while no fresh permission or passes are required for activities which were already permitted in the union territory.
It also put all the 20 districts, 10 each in Kashmir and Jammu regions, in the 'orange 'category but said the Lakhanpur -- the gateway to J-K bordering Punjab on National highway 44 -- with a buffer of 500-metre radius and the Jawahar Tunnel, which connects Kashmir with the Jammu region, on either side have been classified as 'red' zones.

Karnataka Reports Decline In New COVID-19 CasesKarnataka on Sunday reported a decline in the number of new COVID-19 cases at 1,291, and 15 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 8,83,899 and the count to 11,765, the health department said.
The day also saw 1,530 patients getting discharged after recovery, while active cases touched 24,503.
On Saturday, the state had reported 1,522 cases and 12 fatalities.
