Unnao rape victim lawyer succumbs to his injuries

Lucknow, Nov 30 (UNI) After remaining in `Coma’ for almost a year, Mahendra Singh, the lawyer of Unnao rape victim finally succumbed in a district hospital in Unnao on Monday.
Singh was the lawyer of the rape victim of the Makhi rape case in which former BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar has been convicted.
Mahendra Singh and the rape victim had been injured in a car crash in Rae Bareli, last year in July in which the victim’s aunt and one more kin were also killed.
Both were admitted to AIIMS in Delhi for advanced treatment. While the rape victim was discharged after two months. Singh was sent home and asked to take complete rest as he fails to respond to treatment.
According to family sources, his condition began deteriorating on Sunday night and was admitted to district hospital. He passed away on Monday due to multiple organ failure. His younger brother Pinku said, "He never recovered from that accident."
Meanwhile a woman going for Ganga snan in Deoria died in a road mishap on Monday morning while in a separate tragic mishap, a couple going to attend marriage ceremony with their son and a kin were also killed while some children were injured in Barabanki.According to reports from Deoria, Shambhu Kushwaha, a resident of Bhingari Bazaar in Khampar locality was going with his wife Rinku Devi (30) to Barhaj for Ganga Snan when his bike slipped at Ghati Bazar in which both were seriously injured. The relatives took them to hospital where Rinku was pronounced dead upon arrival. The family members did not lodge any case in the matter.
In another incident, Indrajeet Shukla (55) a resident of Kanpur was going to his native place in Sultanpur to attend a marriage function early Monday morning. His wife, son Shivam and one Khushi, daughter of his relative were also in the same car. When they were passing through Kharsatiya village of Haidergarh in Barabanki area on Lucknow-Sultanpur road, their car rammed into a stationary truck in which Indrajeet and his wife died on the spot while his son and the girl were seriously injured. They were rushed to the Community Health Centre from where both were referred to Trauma Centre here at Medical College after their condition became `critical’. A case has been registered and the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.
