Ghazni attack mastermind killed in airstrike: Afghan Def Ministry

Kabul, Nov 30(UNI) The Afghan ministry of defence on Monday claimed to have eliminated the mastermind behind the Ghazni terrorist attack in an airstrike at the Gero district.

A statement issued by the ministry said that seven militants, including Hamza Waziristani who is believed to have plotted the terror attack that struck Ghazni on Sunday were eliminated in an airstrike on Sunday night.

The statement added, “A large amount of their weapons and ammunition were also destroyed,”

The provincial governor's office had confirmed that a public protection unit in PD3 of Ghazni was targeted during the attack.

Tolonews quoted a security source saying that the bomber detonated “a Humvee vehicle which was full of explosives.”

The source added that army commandos were also based at the compound.

However, no group had claimed responsibility for the blast.
