Two drug peddlers arrested in Pulwama

Srinagar, Nov 30 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, a police spokesman said this evening.
He said a checkpoint was established near toll plaza Chersoo Awantipora during which a car was intercepted. During the search of the vehicle police party recovered 400 grams of charas, he said adding two people identified as Manzoor Ahma Beigh, resident of Malpora Khag Badgam and Mohammad Iqbal Mir, resident of Iskanderpora Beerwah, Badgam were arrested.
''The vehicle has been seized, he said a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police have resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace," stated the spokesperson.
