Imphal, November 29 2020: The All Manipur Kabui Students Union (AMKSU) has come out strongly against the order which is to allegedly suppress the Kabui community.

The order was issued by the Tribal Affairs and Hills Department on November 18 .

Stating that the order is unreasonable and should be revoked at the earliest since it is contradictory to the previous order of the Government which identified State Level Ga-Ngai celebration as the festival of the native Kabui community only.

AMKSU said that and the recent order is to suppress the Kabui community.

It further said that AMKSU will stand firmly against those trying to suppress the Kabui community and trying to wipe out the customary, traditional laws and rituals of the Kabuis.

It is high time to protect and preserve the Kabui community of Manipur who has its own set of rituals and traditions from the different forces trying to root it out, said AMKSU.

If the indigenous Kabuis succumb to such destructive forces, it may never be able to rise and stand firmly as a proud community.

Stating that Gan-ngai is the only true festival of the Kabuis and not for the pretenders who want to snatch the customary festivals and celebrations of the Kabuis, AMKSU warned those not to commercialise Ga-ngai festival by forming celebration committees and to stop such ill practices.
