A new restaurant, Santa Rita opened in Odlem Bhat, next to Hotel Shell Top, Taleigao. The restaurant was inaugurated by Jennifer Monserrate, MLA of Taleigao and Minister for Revenue, IT, Labour & Employment. Fr. Caitan D’Souza, assistant parish priest, Taleigao, blessed the restaurant in the presence of Agnelo Da Cunha, sarpanch, Taleigao.
Santa Rita is a joint venture of Tony Rodrigues, the former Mayor of Panaji and his son Joel Rodrigues. Older generation residents will remember Santa Rita restaurant in Panaji market run by Rodrigues and his late mother Espertina. The new Santa Rita promises to bring back memories of the past. “It will duplicate the magic of the original and will be serving the same special Goan and Portuguese cuisine,” according to Rodrigues.
The restaurant has good sitting ambience for around 35 to 40 persons, however, due to social distancing protocol in COVID-19 pandemic it will mostly cater to takeaways and home delivery. Santa Rita promises to be an excellent food outlet for Goan
foodies.
