LUDHIANA: Two members of a wedding band died whereas five of their colleagues were injured, four of them seriously, after the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in collided with a Tipper (construction material carrier vehicle) near Jalal Majra near Machhiwara here on Monday morning. Police officials identified the deceased as Jasveer Singh and Jagpreet Singh, both of Rara Sahib whereas injured included Davinder Singh, Rana (both of Rara Sahib), Makhan Singh and Pavitar Singh, both of Daburji village, and Tarseem Singh of Lampra.
Police officials said that the members of Deepak Wedding Band started from Rara Sahib in an Innova vehicle to play band in a marriage in Sehjo Majra near Machhiwara. They added that when the vehicle reached near Jalal Majra village on Ludhiana Rupnagar road at around 7.30 am, a Tipper was coming from opposite side.
Cops said that apparently because of low visibility due to fog, the two vehicles collided with each other. They added that collision was so powerful that parts of the SUV fell on the road side.
Police officials said that after the accident, onlookers rushed to the spot and started removing the seriously injured from the SUV. They added that it took them a lot of effort to do that as injured were badly stuck inside after the accident and later the onlookers called the family members of the injured who also reached the spot.
