Chennai, Nov 30 (UNI) The Depression over Southeast Bay
of Bengal will intensify further into a deep depression and
become a cyclonic storm tomorrow morning.
A bulletin issued by the Met office here on Monday said the
system moved westnorthwestwards and lay centered at
about 710 km east-southeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka)
and 1,120 km eastsoutheast of Kanyakumari.
It will intensify further into a Deep Depression during
the next 12 hours. It is also likely to intensify further
into a Cyclonic Storm during subsequent 24 hours.
The met office has issued a Red Alert for South Tamil
Nadu on December two and yellow alert for the next
two days.
For North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, yellow
alert has been issued for the next four days from
tomorrow.
Under its influence, heavy rain is likely to occur at
isolated places in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam,
Pudukottai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli,
Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari districts and Karaikal
area in the Union Territory of Puducherry tomorrow.
On December two, extremely heavy rain is likely to
occur at isolated places over Tirunelveli, Tuticoirn,
Tenkasi, Kanyakumari and Ramanathapuram districts.
Heavy to very heavy rain is also likely to occur at
isolated places over Pudukottai, Sivagangai, Thanjavur,
Virudhunagar, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts and
Karaikal area.
Heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places over
Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts.
On December three, extremely heavy rain is likely to
occur at isolated places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli,
Thoothukudi and Tenkasi. Heavy to very heavy rain is
likely to occur at isolated places over Sivagangai,
Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram.
On December two, squally weather with wind speed
reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 Kmph is likely to
occur over Coastal districts including Sivagangai and
Virudhunagar and it would increase 55-65 kmph and
gusting to 75 kmph the next day.
Met office said thunderstorm with lightning is likely
to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu for the
next five days from today.
The forecast for Chennai is sky condition is likely
to be generally cloudy with thunderstorm with light
to moderate rains.
Distant Cautionary Signal No.1 was hosted in Chennai,
Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Ennore, Kattupalli, Puducherry,
Kararikal,Pamban, Thoothukudi, Rameswaram and Colachel
Ports and fishermen were advised not to venture into the
sea for the next three days.
