Pawan Kumar Bansal, former Railway Minister and ex-MP from Chandigarh, has been appointed Congress treasurer after the demise of Ahmed Patel.
Party chief Sonia Gandhi approved the appointment today, saying the arrangement was interim and Bansal would need to take charge immediately to discharge the duties of the treasurer.
Bansal, 72, was recently made in-charge of the AICC administration, replacing former general secretary Motilal Vora.
