In view of the current Covid-19 situation, the Haryana government has planned to give tablets free of cost to students of state-run schools. An official spokesperson said the gadgets will be provided to children studying in classes 8 to 12 - belonging to all categories, including general, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes as well as minority communities. The decision, taken to enable students to take advantage of digital education, is under consideration.

The spokesperson added that the tablets would be distributed like a library scheme, under which the tablets will be the property of the government and the students will have to return them after clearing Class XII exams.
