UNLF cadre arrested

Imphal, November 28 2020: An active cadre of UNLF identified as Haorungbam Ranjit Meetei Lumba (45) of Loushangkhong Mayai Leikai, Imphal-East district was arrested with a .38 pistol by personnel of CDO Imphal East yesterday, said SP H Jogeschandra at his office chamber.

Briefing media persons, H Jogeschandra said following reliable information shared by 30 AR and police source, teams of CDO Imphal East under the command of Inspector Henery, Officer-in-Charge CDO Imphal-East Unit, Inspector Rajib, 2i/c Commando Imphal-East Unit under the supervision of Roni Mayengbam, Addl SP(Ops) launched counter insurgency operation in and around Loushangkhong and Keibi Khunou and detained H Ranjit for verification near Loushangkhong Mayai Leikai Community Hall.

Upon frisking him, the CDO personnel found one .38 pistol concealed at his right waistline along with a magazine loaded with five live rounds.

He had joined the outfit in 1997 through one Achou of UNLF.

The arrested person along with the seized arms and ammunition have been handed over to Lamlai PS for further legal action, he said.
