HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday said people of Greater Hyderabad will never forgive TRS, BJP and MIM for not discussing their real problems and instead focusing on polarisation of votes on communal lines during GHMC election campaign.
Addressing road shows at Banjara Hills, Serilingampally and other divisions, Uttam said none of the union ministers, state ministers and other top leaders would visit the by-lanes in Greater Hyderabad once the campaign concludes on Sunday. People should not get carried away by the fake promises being made by these parties.
People should take a conscious decision and vote judiciously to ensure that they elect the right kind of leaders to represent them in the GHMC.
He condemned TRS, BJP and MIM presidents and other leaders for raising non-issues in the campaign. “Congress is the only party which raised people's issues and proposed solutions in its manifesto. Congress never believes in polarisation of votes on religious lines to win elections. It harps on development and straight approach to resolve the issues concerning the people,” he said.
Leaders from a political party proposed to change the name of the city. A leader from another political party insulted great leaders of the past to draw voters' attention. They indulged in matters which were not connected with the civic problems. The GHMC-2020 elections would be remembered in history for provocative speeches and worst campaign, Uttam said.
However, the Congress did not stoop down to get votes and carried its campaign with a clear message to bring development. “We are confident that the people would reject TRS, BJP and MIM and would vote for the Congress for development, he said.
