Benjamin Mate clarifies over allegation of misappropriation of compensation

Kangpokpi, November 27 2020: Spokesperson of BJP Manipur and former Lok Sabha BJP candidate in Outer Parliamentary Constituency HS Benjamin Mate has clarified over the allegations by the Kuki non-SoO militant group Socialist Democratic Front of Kukiland for misappropriation of monetary compensations to the people affected by the Moreh by-pass road project.

Benjamin Mate stated that he was never involved in any manner with anything related to the Moreh by-pass road project.

Such baseless accusation without proof amounts to character assassination, he added.

He also appealed to the organisation concerned to issue a public clarification clearing his name.

Mate pointed out that he took part in negotiations relating to compensations for Tengnoupal areas of Imphal-Moreh Highway project as his properties at Tengnoupal along the highway were affected by the highway expansion.

He further appealed to the Government to institute an investigation to punish the guilty and ensure that the people affected get their dues.
