Uproar in Odisha Assembly for fourth consecutive day over resignation of Agriculture minister Arun Sahoo

Bhubaneswar, Nov 28(UNI) The alleged abduction and murder of Pari, a five year old girl in Jadupur village of Nayagarha district in July rocked the Odisha Assembly for the fourth consecutive day today.

The functioning of house was paralysed during the pre lunch session as members of both BJP and the Congress rushed to the well, shouted slogans and stalled the business of the house demanding the resignation of Agriculture and Higher Education minister Arun Sahoo for shielding the murder accused.

Apart from the resignation of the Minister while the Congress demanded a court monitored SIT probe, the BJP insisted on a CBI probe into the incident.

However, the Congress members participated in the proceedings in the post lunch session after the state Home Department issued a notification about the constitution of a five member Special Investigation team headed by Mr Arun Bothra ,IG to investigate into the alleged murder of five year old girl

Beside Mr Bothra, the other members of the team are Mr R K Dora,Superintendent of Police CID,CB , Mr R C Thamba, Additional Superintendent of Police CID CB, Mr Narendra Kumar Behera and Mrs Mamata Rani Panda both Inspectors of Police CID CB.

The government requested the High Court Chief Justice to accord permission to monitor the investigation of the SIT by a sitting High Court judge.

The BJP members, despite the announcement of a court monitored SIT probe continued their agitation.

In the Post lunch session, opposition Chief Whip Mohan Majhi tried to climb up the Speaker’s podium and pull down the Speaker’s microphone while the house was discussing the supplementary budget for the Panchayati raj and drinking water department.

The Speaker was forced to adjourn the house thrice, first at 1517 for 30 minutes, again at 1608 for 20 minutes and finally adjourned the house for the day 1630 hrs soon after the house passed the grant for the department

Participating in the debate Mr Tara Prasad Bahinipati (Congress)said the Chief Minister had already ordered a SIT probe but the BJP members were creating problems.

Congress legislature party leader Narasingha Mishra said by creating a ruckus in the house, the BJP was protecting the government.

He said the BJP had suspended nine Congress MPs while they were protesting against the Farm bills in Parliament. The same rule should be applied for BJP members here.
