New Delhi: India has reported 41,322 fresh COVID-19 cases till today, 4% lower than on Friday, taking its overall number to 93.51 lakh cases and 1,36,200 deaths, Union Health Ministry data shows. These numbers come even as a vaccine to fight back the virus seemed tantalisingly close. The states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala were the most affected ones, with deaths ranging from 23 to 85 in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three-city vaccine tour today to personally review the vaccine development and manufacturing process. PM Modi began his three-city vaccine tour with a visit to pharma major Zydus Cadila's plant near Ahmedabad. He will then visit Pune where Serum Institute of India (SII), which has partnered with global pharma giant AstraZeneca and Oxford University for a COVID-19 vaccine, is based. The Prime Minister will then travel to Hyderabad and visit Bharat BioTech.
On November 24, Prime Minister while speaking with chief ministers of various states over the deteriorating pandemic situation in their states at a virtual meeting advised the states to establish cold storage facilities for COVID-19 vaccine beforehand and suggested them to prepare and send a plan for its distribution to the Central government.Delhi registered 5,482 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day, while 98 more fatalities linked to the disease pushed the city's death count to 8,909 on Friday, authorities said.

PM Modi visits Zydus Biotech Park in Ahmedabad, reviews the development of COVID-19 vaccine candidate ZyCOV-D
PM Modi began his three-city vaccine tour today with a visit to pharma major Zydus Cadila's plant near Ahmedabad. The plant is located in the Changodar industrial area, over 20 km from Ahmedabad. PM Modi will be at the plant for an hour, an official said. The drug maker has announced that the first phase of clinical trial of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, ZyCoV-D, has been completed and it commenced the second phase of clinical trials in August.
Fresh restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19 have come into force in Leh district of Ladakh Union Territory, prohibiting assembly of over four people and allowing only 50 per cent staff to attend government offices, while vehicles will ply with only half their capacities.
Delhi on Friday recorded 5,482 new cases and 98 deaths. The city's overall number of cases now stands at 5,56,744, with 8,909 deaths at a rate of 1.6%. Up to 64,455 tests were conducted across the city in the past 24 hours.

PM To Visit India's Top Vaccine Hubs Today To Review Vaccine Development
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit India's top vaccine hubs today to personally review the vaccine development and manufacturing process. As per schedule, PM Modi will begin his three-city vaccine tour with a visit to pharma major Zydus Cadila's plant near Ahmedabad at 9:30 am. The drug-maker has announced that the phase-I clinical trial of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, ZyCoV-D, has been completed and it has commenced phase-II clinical trials from August.
From Ahmedabad, PM Modi will fly to Pune where Serum Institute of India (SII), which has partnered with global pharma giant AstraZeneca and the Oxford University for a COVID-19 vaccine, is based. PM Modi is expected to review the status of the vaccine, including its launch, production and distribution mechanisms during the visit.
PM Modi will then travel to Hyderabad and visit Bharat BioTech, which is working on Covaxin, pitched as India's first indigenous vaccine candidate. The Prime Minister is expected to reach at 3:40 pm and after a visit to the facility between 4 and 5 pm, he would fly out at 5:40 pm. (Read full story

Coronavirus news: Bihar reports five more COVID-19 deaths, 698 fresh cases
Bihar's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,33,839 after 698 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, while five fresh fatalities took the death count to 1,248, a health department bulletin said on Friday.
It said that 654 patients recovered from the disease taking the total number of cured people to 2,27,046.
The state now has 5,545 active cases, PTI reported.
Coronavirus news: Leh announces fresh COVID restrictions, night curfew from Saturday
Fresh restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19 will come into force from Saturday in Leh district of Ladakh Union Territory, prohibiting assembly of more than four people, allowing only 50 per cent staff to attend government offices and plying of vehicles with half of their seating capacity, officials said.
The order was issued by Leh District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya in exercise of the powers conferred upon him as the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority under Section-34 of the Disaster Management Act and under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and the Epidemic Act, PTI reported.
