The second National Sero-Survey of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that as of August in India, about 7.43 crore people aged 10 years or older had succumbed to coronavirus infection. Most of these people were in urban slums. It was then found in non-slum and rural areas.
According to the survey results published in 'Lancet Global Health', a serosurvey conducted on people under 10 years of age in India has shown that a large proportion of the population is susceptible to exposure to Novel Coronavirus infection.
The report states that 'the spread of infection in most states of India is expected to continue until the goal of increasing mass immunity is achieved. Now this work can be done by natural means of infection or by vaccination. '
According to the report, 'by August 2020, about one in 15 people aged ten years or older were in the grip of universal COV-2 infection. The spread of infection increased by 10 times between May and August 2020. '
