Taking to micro blogging site twitter Peoples Conference (PC) president Mehbooba Mufti “Press has been barred from entering my residence in Srinagar. This despite no written orders explaining my arbitrary detention. Kashmir is an open air prison where no one has the right to express their opinion”.

Media persons, representing local, national and international media organizations had gathered outside the residence of Mehbooba. However, security force personnel deployed outside the residence of Mehbooba prevented them from even standing there.

Mehbooba has been put under house arrest today to prevent her from visiting the Pulwama residence of youth PDP president Waheed Para who was sent to 15 days remand by NIA court in Jammu in connection with alleged links with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).

In another tweet she vice president of the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) said “ We are one day away from DDC polling & its evident that the admin here is using fear & intimidation in tandem to muffle any form of opposition”.

She alleged that candidates of PAGD, who are contesting DDC election are not being allowed to campaign by the security forces. However, she said, candidates and leaders of BJP are freely moving under tight security arrangements to campaign.
